Since it’s a holiday long weekend, I’m keeping it briefer than usual and sharing my Black Friday finds podcast playlist for understanding, articulating and responding to what’s happening in Palestine. And if you any recommendations to add, please do!
CEASEFIRE NOW: A PODCAST PLAYLIST
On the Nose. Produced by leftist Jewish Currents, On the Nose has been speaking with organizers from Jewish Voice for Peace, IfNotNow and other anti-occupation orgs. Their recent interview with Rep. Cori Bush is also an important listen on the US political backlash of advocating for Palestine and calling for ceasefire in Congress.
5-4. Thanks to Shout Your Abortion for alerting me to one of the latest 5-4 episodes, Palestine Legal: The Great Difference a Movement Lawyer Can Make, led by co-host and Palestinian legal expert Rhiannon Hamam about “the power of intersectional liberation movements.”
Rethinking Palestine. This is a monthly podcast from The Palestinian Policy Network hosted by Yara Hawari, and I highly recommend October’s episode: Countering Repression of Palestine Solidarity in the US & Europe.
Unsettled. Sponsored by The Institute for Nonprofit News and started by IfNotNow organizers, Unsettled is a “a podcast featuring difficult conversations and diverse viewpoints on Israel-Palestine and the Jewish Diaspora.” They’ve been covering both the devastation in Israel in the wake of the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks as well as the carnage in Gaza.
Ethnically Ambiguous. Shereen and Anna are “aggressively pro Palestine” and have been covering the violence every week on the pod since mid-October. EA is also a kindred Unladylike podcast in general, so subscribe if ya don’t already!
Unladies’ Room: More Mash-Up Americans!
Fun fact: Back in 2016, I saw Mash-Up Americans hosts Amy Choi and Rebecca Lehrer speak at a Werk It, a now-defunct WNYC conference for women in audio and podcasting. (I also got to see Phoebe Robinson interview Janet Mock for her now-defunct WNYC podcast Soooo Many White Guys, as evidenced by this grainy ass pic I found in my archives. )
The whole experience was a revelation for me, and by the end of the year, I’d quit my podcasting day job to start Unladylike. Tomorrow on the Patreon, I talk to Amy and Rebecca about what it was like launching The Mash-Up Americans podcast back then and how the industry has changed in the decade since.
I also share a pair of delightful listener letters and a very brief story about my pubes.
unladies are saying:

PS: no, YOU nailed it, librarian Gayle!
